Hydrodictyon algae, also known as “water net”, is a type of algae that we don’t often see around our Northeast Indiana region.
If you look closely, you can clearly see where the nickname “water net” comes from. The structure of this slimey algae looks very much like a net and typically blooms in the late spring and early summer months.
Hydrodictyon does not respond well with just Copper Sulfate, so the best course of action with treatment would be using a chelated copper product like our Crystal Plex. It is a more resistant-type algae, which typically does better under our Gold treatment plan. This is due to the frequency of our visits every week in the summers with the Gold plan vs. the biweekly treatments year-round on the Silver plan.
