Not all pond service is identical, as the needs of one pond can be drastically different than the one next door. What does it look like to sign up with Pond Champs for service?
Each truck is stocked with all possible products needed for the day. Whenever your technician notices any type growth, they will use the proper products to treat them, weather & temperature permitting. Ideally, we start treating your pond at the beginning of April, which allows us to load up your pond with any preventative measures (like dye & bacteria) before the warmer weather arrives. Once temperatures are more favorable (usually mid-late May), we will be able to spray weeds and algae. Muck treatments and water quality testing is offered in the summer months.
We will leave a flag on your property, usually near a beach area (if you have one), or an area easily visible from your home. Read more about flag colors and what they mean here.
Hand treating is our most preferred way to service your pond. It is the least invasive way to treat and environmentally more responsible. Using a boat or an ATV to treat runs the risk of tearing up the grass, especially if there are wet conditions and soft ground. Some of the ponds that we take on require hard work over an extended period of time to get it back into shape. When dealing with excessive amount of rip rap weeds or cattails, using a boat or an ATV proves to be a more efficient than treating by hand. Occasionally, we will use boats or ATVs to treat submerged weeds.
